RSC East Midlands provide a range of VLE support services, including strategic advice on Embedding VLE Use and a VLE review. As Moodle has now become the predominant VLE in use in the region, however, we are also providing Moodle specific support. The sections below provide details of the range of support and advice available.
[Not sure what Moodle is?The quick guide below gives you a brief overview. There's also a brief guide to using this RSC Moodle here]
The RSC cannot provide direct technical support for your Moodle. Instead, we recommend the following sources of this type of help:
www.moodle.org The home of Moodle. Here you can find user forums which include technical problem solving, bug reporting, development updates and many more resources
The RSC East Midlands Moodle User Group (MUG): This forum meets termly and is now also holding online meetings. It is a great place to meet other Moodle users from across the region and to hear from Moodle specialists on a range of relevant subjects. You can find the MUG course here
The RSC East Midlands Moodle User's mailing list [EM-Moodle@jiscmail.ac.uk]: A regional Moodle community list through which you can share ideas and look for advice and help. You can't sign up for this direclty yourself. Instead, if you'd like to be added to this list, send a request to support@rsc-em.ac.uk The mailing list is primarily intended for:
Tutors and Curriculum staff

Effective teaching and learning with Moodle
Being able to push the right buttons on Moodle is only part of making it a useful tool. Effective course design and integration with the overall learning programme is critical, if you are to get the full value from your Moodle. The RSC can help directly with this through in-house and regional workshops. We also offer advice and guidance on effective approaches to increasing staff skills and use of Moodle within your own organisation. For more inrofmation on what we can provide, contact: ben.williams@rsc-em.ac.uk
For comprehensive advice and guidance online, the resources provided by JISC Infonet are well worth a look. You can find the Infonet mini-site on the Effective Use of Virtual Learning Environments here
